Why I joined UKIP
I have, within the last few years finding myself interested in what is happening in my country. When I say my country I include the whole of the UK and not just England. I'm British first, English second. There's this small thing happening in the UK which caught my interest. It's called Brexit. Not sure if you are aware of it? 🤣 Well to cut a long story short I voted Leave. The reasons why are pretty obvious and I'll probably explain them in another post.Well this Brexit thing happened and I saw the division of opinion in the country. There were huge campaigns however because I wanted to Leave my main focus was on that side of the fence as it were. A man named Nigel caught my attention and he was just the kinda guy that ticked boxes for me. Him along with Boris were so good at describing how I felt. Fast forward to June 23rd 2016 and Leave won the referendum and Nigel, this man who I had begun to admire and respect stepped down as leader of UKIP. Now me, being a Conservative voter for most of my life and up until now still was, was ready to make the change and then he stepped away. I thought 'oh well, someone else will take over from him'. That did happen, but I lost all interest in UKIP.Forward to 2017 and I heard this man had taken over the leadership. Didn't know who he was or what he was like. I'd started to watch YouTube videos and found ones with this man. Gerard Batten sounded to me like a man who knows exactly what he wants and I agreed with things that he was saying. I continued to watch videos on YouTube featuring Gerard. On normal television, there didn't seem to be much coverage of UKIP and/or Gerard. I was confused. The more I watched the more I found that broadcast TV Channels didn't like what UKIP had to say. The other main Political Parties - Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrats all got fair air time. I found myself getting extremely frustrated because all these parties seemed to do it bicker between themselves, only think about themselves, and most importantly are not doing what I want them too.UKIP is like a breath of fresh air to me as they want what I want and they speak common sense. Because they speak sense and truth the media do not give UKIP a platform to speak, and if they do then they try and tarnish the party with negativity and thus sway the judgment of the people who only get their news from traditional sources such as newspapers and television. I on the other hand watch and read news from alternative sources which are not biased against UKIP.I joined UKIP at the beginning of January this year and I'm actually finding it interesting. I've never been a member political party before and politics has never really interested me. What I do care about though is my town and the UK; and I want both to be the best they can. Before I joined all I could do was watch my town and country fall to bits and not do anything about it. At least now being a member of a party I can try and help fix things. I may not be qualified enough to be Prime Minister, but at least I can do my bit.Thank you for reading this page - I'll write some more blog posts soon band you can get a good picture of me.
