30/05/2019: Katie Hopkins visits Liverpool UKIP
Tonight I attended a UKIP Local Branch meeting in Liverpool at Wavertree Cricket Club. I'm a UKIP member from another branch and had been invited a week or so earlier. I wanted to attend because of their guest speaker. I like meeting people and this was an opportunity to meet Katie Hopkins. I've watched some of Katie's videos and reports on YouTube over the past few years and was interested to meet her and hear what she had to say. Now, some people don't like her for her views, and some do. I fall into the latter of these. She spoke for about an hour - a mixture of telling us stories from her life and then a Q&A session. Some of what she said could, depending on your point of view, be deemed as 'racist'. I however hate this label, and I think it's lost all meaning because of its overuse. Anyone who has anything to say about something they don't believe in or like is deemed racist - even if all they are doing is stating the facts. Katie told some scary, some sad, and some funny stories from her life and how she's dealt with these situations. After her anecdotes she took questions from UKIP members and visitors which she answered very well. Afterwards she hung around and had photographs with whoever wanted one. I actually think everyone got at least one photo with her.I took a video - my phone camera balanced between two drinking glasses. It's in portrait (not something I usually do, as I've always hated the black bars created by an incorrect aspect ratio). My battery died before the end of the Q&A and the start of the video was a bit wobbly as I tried to position the camera in the best place. I'll never make a professional cameraman lol.Click the link below to view an album of photos and videos from the evening. You can make up your own mind on whether you like Katie Hopkins or not. I'll leave that up to you - we still do live in a free country after all 😉
